Godfall developer Counterplay Games has started work on a new IP, according to job listings on its website.
As spotted by site VeryAli Gaming, a number of new listings have been posted on the studio’s website, which give more information than previous listings added in December 2021.
One of the new listings looking for a producer states that the role is for “an unannounced co-operative action fantasy shooter”.
Another listing for a senior writer role says the successful candidate will “contribute to the overall narrative of a new IP”, suggesting the game isn’t a sequel to Godfall.
Meanwhile, a listing for a ‘next-gen platform engineer’ role looks for someone able to “implement and maintain systems and tools to support next-gen console platform development”, suggesting that its next title may not be a PlayStation exclusive like Godfall was.
Other listings reveal that the next game “is heavily combat-focused” and will likely include “synchronised multi-character animations (assassinations)”.
Godfall became the first officially announced PS5 game when it was unveiled at The Game Awards 2019.
However, the game received mixed reviews following its release, with its Metacritic score currently sitting at 61 on PS5 and 59 on PC.
It released for PS5 and PC via the Epic Games Store in November 2020 as a timed exclusive, and was later released on PlayStation 4 alongside an expansion called Fire & Darkness.
Godfall was given away as one of December 2021’s PlayStation Plus games, alongside Mortal Shell and Lego DC Super Villains.
