The studio swapped its Twitter banner profile image from a bigger version of its logo to the above artwork without overtly bringing attention to the change; it was up to some fans to point it out. It shows the silhouette of someone who is presumably Samus Aran against a blue-lit backdrop. It’s a similar hue to the one seen in the brief logo reveal trailer.
Retro, creator of the original trilogy, took over development after Nintendo stated that the game did “not reach [its] standards” under reported developer Bandai Namco. Nintendo announced in January 2019 that development had completely restarted and said that “it will be a long road until the next time” it can provide an update on its progress. Seeing as that was three years ago, it’s possible that Nintendo is slowly beginning to unveil at least parts of .
Nintendo is also reportedly on the precipice of announcing a remaster or remake of the first for the Switch just in time for the game’s 20th anniversary coming up in late 2022. Other reports and rumors have also stated that this alleged rerelease will likely pave the way for Switch ports of and later down the line.
