Many players are hunting for the new rares in Zereth Mortis now that Patch 9.2 has been released, but a specific rare has been causing players a lot of grief due to a glitch. The rare Gluttonous Overgrowth, located by the Catalyst Gardens on the far south of Zereth Mortis, is initially rooted on the ground and unattackable — To uproot the rare, you need to find a few Bulging Root on the bushes around the area the rare is located at, and pull them.
However, there is a chance this rare can trigger a glitch in which no Bulging Roots spawn, making this rare impossible to unroot and kill. Currently there is no known solution to fix this besides changing phases and hoping that phase has working roots, but as more phases end up encountering this glitch, this rare ends up becoming more difficult to engage and kill.
This rare is especially desirable to players as it drops the Enlightened Botanist's Machete, one of the new variants of the Tazavesh glowing 1-handed Sword transmog. We hope Blizzard acknowledges and fixes this glitch soon! In the meantime, you can check our Zereth Mortis rares guide for more information on this and other rares in the zone.
