After releasing last year for PC and PS5 as a console exclusive, Bethesda’s Ghostwire: Tokyo is coming to Xbox on April 12th. It will be available for Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass for consoles and PC. In addition, the developer confirmed a new massive update, “Spider’s Thread,” that’s going live on the same day for all platforms.
The update adds a new game mode, The Spider’s Thread, a 30-stage gauntlet that players must fight through to reach the end. The gauntlet pulls from over 130 handcrafted levels, providing a new experience each time. Furthermore, completing challenges will unlock upgrades to provide more power.
If you fail, it’s back to the beginning, though you’ll retain some upgrades. For story fans, new locations, like the Middle School area, and extended story cutscenes that provide more insight into the plot are being added. Another nice addition is the “Reduced Horror Effects” setting, which replaces the spooky effects with stickers of Shiibuya Hachi.
But wait, there’s more, as Akito gets new skills like Counter-Attack, Quick Dodging and Charge Rush (which augments Palm Strike to become an elemental melee attack). There’s also a new Tengu Wind talisman for deploying a whirlwind to ascend higher and the Spiritual Fountain talisman for recovering Ether. New enemies also emerge, like Retribution, Silent Gaze and Sanguine Dancer.
Finally, Photo Mode is expanding with stamps and game models (unlocked by earning figures from capsule machines) to use in images. Interestingly, some features are being kept secret, so there should be more. Check out our review for Ghostwire: Tokyo here in the meantime.
