Warning! Spoilers ahead for Avengers #58
The different variations of Ghost Rider continue in a new preview for Marvel Comics' Avengers, showcasing a brand new Spirit of Vengeance who's a full-on samurai. Traveling back in time to the Edo Period, it seems as though the Avengers are looking to the past for backup in their imminent fight with the demon lord Mephisto. Known as the Ghost Ronin, this new Samurai of Vengeance is giving Johnny Blaze and Robbie Reyes a run for their money as the coolest Hellblazer yet.
In previous issues of Avengers from Jason Aaron and Javier Garrón, Mephisto is preparing to claim Earth-616 as his own alongside the Council of Red, a legion of Mephisto variants from across the multiverse. In response, the primary Avengers have been doing all they can to prepare while multiversal Avengers are doing the same under the leadership of the mysterious Avenger Prime, protecting the rest of the multiverse from the newest version of the Masters of Evil (whom Mephisto also helped bring together). Adding Nighthawk to their ranks, the Avengers have now gone back in time to help heroes of the past fight back against the Council of Red.
