Lightyear brings audiences back to the Toy Story universe and a genius theory [via Tiktok] suggests the movie may actually be a modern remake of the original movie that Andy watched as a kid. Lightyear follows Buzz Lightyear (Chris Evans), a toy first introduced in the movie Toy Story in 1995. Buzz receiving his own movie has created a lot of conversation, debate, and theory about how Lightyear really fits in the wider Toy Story universe.
Lightyear begins with a title card with three short sentences, "In 1995 Andy got a toy. That toy was based on a movie. This is that movie."
