If everything goes accordingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will go official sometime between August and September, later this year. As always, Samsung will bring many new changes and some refinements over the past generation of foldable. Over the past few weeks, we have heard some convincing and solid rumors about the upcoming foldable phone. So far, all things indicate a more refined Galaxy Z Fold 4, and honestly, that isn't bad.
With that said, we are going to look at everything we know so far about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5.
One of the biggest gripes most people have with foldable phones is the visible crease. Sure, companies have tried their best to eliminate the crease by upgrading the hinge design. So far, we have not seen a definitive solution, however, with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and its "waterdrop hinge," which is said to reduce crease significantly. Additionally, we have also heard that the crease will allow the phone to fold completely flat and offer protection against dust. The new hinge mechanism will also allow the phone to be thinner than its predecessor. Of course, we will have to wait for the official release or actual renders to tell the difference.
Moving further, one thing that is for sure is that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is going to use the same camera system as the Galaxy S23 or the Galaxy S23+ instead of using the behemoth of a camera found in the ultra variant. Why is that the case? Samsung has a history of using the same camera system in their foldable phones as their base Galaxy S variant. Case in point, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ share the same primary camera with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 instead of an upgraded 108-megapixel camera found on the Ultra variant.
