A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger and Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees receive cute Lisa Frank-style makeovers in new fan art. The two slasher icons famously faced off against one another in the 2003 crossover film Freddy vs. Jason. By retconning Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th into one shared universe, the film pits the titular antagonists against each other after Freddy manipulates Jason to come back to life and attack the residents of Springwood, in order to facilitate his own return.
Freddy vs. Jason served as the culmination of decades worth of slasher films, as it was the final installment in each franchise before their respective reboots. Friday the 13th was rebooted by director Marcus Nispel in 2009, followed by director Samuel Bayer's reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street in 2010. Since then, there hasn't been an entry into either film series, as the Friday the 13th franchise has been mired in legal battles for the past decade, while the failure of 2010's Nightmare on Elm Street has rendered any attempt at rebooting the franchise again a non-starter. Even without any new movies in a decade, Freddy and Jason remain beloved in the collective horror consciousness.

Now, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees have received cute Lisa Frank-style makeovers courtesy of artist Laura Freeman (who goes by @nasubionnas on Twitter). In one design, Freddy can be seen riding a unicorn and in another, the hockey-masked killer is depicted riding a dolphin while wielding a bloody knife, both in the whimsical style of Lisa Frank.
