After accidentally letting the cat out of the bag early with an early Steam listing, Playground Games has officially shown off the first expansion for Forza Horizon 5—a massive Hot Wheels-themed island stunt paradise called Hot Wheels Park.
This new expansion will feature the same death-defying loop-de-loops, rocket-powered boost pads, and environmental hazards that the iconic toy line has always featured throughout its various track sets.
Just as the real Hot Wheels sets feature interlocking track pieces that allow users to make their own custom designs, so will the new expansion content in Forza Horizon 5.
Players will be ale to make use of “80 distinct, snappable track pieces” when they build their own rollercoaster-like designs in the EventLab. Combine with the EventLab’s new customization features, such as gravity-shifting, the custom tracks that will come out of this are bound to be extreme.
It wouldn’t be a Hot Wheels expansion without some new rides. 10 new cars will be included in this set, such as the new 2021 Hennessey Venom F5 and Hot Wheels’ very own 2000 Deora II.
While this expansion pack does harken back to the very first Forza x Hot Wheels partnership back in Forza Horizon 3, the debut trailer shows off some stellar new features, such as volcanoes and even larger track designs that scale, slalom and loop through different environments such as a jungle, snow-capped mountains, and even above the clouds. Thus, this truly is bigger and better than the previous expansion from Forza Horizon 3. And, again, paired with the custom designs that will come from the community, this is set up to be an expansion that essentially keeps getting larger as time goes on.
