It's May 4, so naturally Fortnite has expanded its roster of available Star Wars skins. Actually, it added new characters to the mix a couple of days early, welcoming Anakin Skywalker and Darth Maul to the fold. You'd have likely assumed Darth Maul would have come with his iconic double-ended red lightsabers, but no. The Darth Maul skin comes with a halberd for some reason, but thankfully, players with a deeper Fortnite knowledge have (sort of) fixed that.
A few players, including lowneliestgirwl and website CluelessGamer, have highlighted there's technically a pickaxe that sort of looks like a lightsaber called the omni sword. Even better you can turn the omni sword red and make it double-ended. No, the blade tapering to a point and the gaps between the blades and the handle mean it isn't the perfect lightsaber replica. But hey, it looks closer to the real thing than Darth Maul swinging something he had in a comic once.

That's right, The Phantom Menace villain's halberd isn't entirely random. It's an obscure reference to Star Wars history. Naturally someone with a deeper knowledge of the Star Wars universe weighed in on the Fortnite lightsaber discourse, sharing images from a comic in which Darth Maul is swinging a halberd instead of his red lightsaber. As for Anakin and the fusioncutter Epic has blessed him with, I'm still at a loss.
Thankfully, Fortnite's omni sword also comes in green and can be single-bladed too, meaning Anakin's fusioncutter can be replaced with something far more fitting.
