Xiaomi was among the first few brands to popularise the concept of a 108MP camera phone in 2020 and in 2022, it is going to do the same for the 200MP main camera. High resolution camera sensors on phones have largely been a marketing gimmick, given that companies mostly use it for the name and barely optimise the output. Whether you like or not, Xiaomi is now coming up with a 200MP camera phone under the Redmi brand. The phone is likely to be called the Redmi K50S Pro.
The Redmi K50S Pro, as suggested by tipster Yogesh Brar, is going to feature a 200MP sensor for the main camera. The benefits of the larger camera sensor is yet to be known although Xiaomi could optimise it for getting better low-light images as well as improvement in details. Along with that, the phone will also get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, which means it should be good at power efficiency and thermal management.
The Redmi K50S Pro is also expected to feature an 8MP wide angle camera and a 2MP macro camera; it seems the company ran out of budget after using the 200MP camera sensor and the new Snapdragon chip.
The Redmi K50S Pro is also said to have a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It will run MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. The phone will come with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Xiaomi will be using a 5000mAh battery and will have a 120W fast wired charging solution. There will be an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as stereo speaker setup on the device.
The Redmi K50S Pro is also said to debut globally as the Xiaomi 12T Pro. There is also said to be a Redmi K50S that will likely use the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip and could be renamed as the Xiaomi 12T for global markets.
