Blumhouse and Universal are reportedly cooking up plans for another swift slice of Five Nights at Freddy’s action soon as Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set to begin filming in the Spring for a Halloween 2024 release.
The massive success of the original on a relatively small budget helped to prop up Blumhouse’s other spooky season offering, The Exorcist: Believer, and made a sequel to the video game adaptation a certainty as it became Blumhouse’s biggest movie ever.
The first movie came out October 27 this year and raked in more than $300 million at the box office on a $25 million budget despite day and date streaming on Peacock in the US.
The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.
Five Nights at Freddy’s was directed and co-written by Emma Tammi, and stars Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail, and Matthew Lillard (Scream).
You can buy Five Nights at Freddy’s on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K, and digital now in the US.
