Astrologians are very powerful and cunning in Final Fantasy XIV PvP. They have a substantial amount of healing to protect allies. But more importantly, they can improve the damage and defense of allies, while reducing enemy movement speed to a crawl.
Participating in PvP is a great means of earning unique Final Fantasy XIV cosmetic rewards. There are two main sets of PvP currency: Wolf Marks and Trophy Crystals. Wolf Marks are used to buy general PvP items available at any point in time. Trophy Crystals are instead used to buy items from past seasons and series that one may have been absent for. Trophy Crystals never expire, so there is no time pressure to ever grind them.

PvP can be overwhelming at first, as all abilities, stats, and strategies are completely different than those in Final Fantasy XIV PvE dungeons. Any new Astrologian should not immediately engage in any match. Instead, go to the Wolves’ Den Pier from Moraby Drydocks Landing in La Noscea. Once there, players should customize all their skill hotbars to a comfortable layout and test out their abilities on training dummies within the zone.
Astrologians have many abilities to help protect the team and keep the enemy at bay. In most matches, Astrologians will be offering team support, not direct damage outside helping to finish off wounded targets. Despite being a Final Fantasy XIV healer role, in PvP it is still up to each individual party member to keep themselves alive. This is both due to how fast multiple enemies can deal damage and Recuperate’s healing potency.
