Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will "link up" to Advent Children if you play all the way through to the end.
One of the most surprising things about Final Fantasy 7 Remake is how it managed to naturally include content and lore from the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7. That is to say, content from the wider universe of Final Fantasy 7 that was created after the original game, like Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, which have both had numerous references in the original game and Yuffie's expansion.

As great as it is seeing those two projects get referenced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the biggest project in Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 that most fans want to see adapted is Advent Children, the 2005 film that acts as an epilogue to the main game and shows Cloud fighting against a disease called Geostigma.
We've seen some references to Advent Children so far, like with the three Whispers resembling Sephiroth's Remnants, but everyone is wondering whether the Remake trilogy will ever properly include Advent Children content. Well, it looks like we might have our first official confirmation that it's happening, as Tetsuya Nomura has said in a recent interview with The Guardian that the Remake trilogy will "link up" to Advent Children.
