It's no understatement to say that the Fantastic Four are often Marvel's least-loved team. Now a new piece of fan art gives an interesting redesign of the classic Fantastic Four costumes, while also bringing a slightly disturbing take on their powers.
The Fantastic Four's heyday was in the 1960's and 1970's from creators Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, and the duo quickly established that the First Family lives up to their name. One of their defining team characteristics that sets them apart is their status as a dysfunctional, yet loving, family. Though Reed Richards might think of himself as the leader, it's actually Invisible Woman who is the Fantastic Four's strongest member. The team also broke with the anonymous status quo by favoring celebrity status over secret identities. Now, some new fan art gets to the core of the weird side of their fantastical powers.

On their Twitter, artist Mike Becker posted this fan art that shows their unique redesign of the First Family. The first thing Mike emphasizes is the family theme by grouping all of these character sketches together, referencing the close family ties they have. Straight away, fans will also notice how delightfully odd and quirky these depictions are. The Four are drawn in a blend of a 90's illustrative cartoon style mixed with the comics style that brings a different energy to the heroes. Mister Fantastic, the Thing, and Human Torch get the most redesign, while Invisible Woman's image brings a different idea of 'body horror' with her disembodied hands.
