HBO has already renewed The Gilded Age for season 2 and here's everything we know about the return of the historical drama created by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes. The Gilded Age has been a hit for HBO and appreciative audiences have been immersed in the show's lushly-realized New York City circa 1882, and the societal conflict between Old New York and the New Money family led by George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon).
The Gilded Age began with Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) as the audience's POV character into the world of 19th century New York high society while the series has also laudably highlighted the African-American experience of lead character Peggy Scott (Denée Benton). However, Bertha and George have emerged as fan-favorite lead characters; while Mr. Russell has proved as ruthless in business as he is a loving husband and father, Bertha has singlemindedly fought to have her family recognized by high society and its leader, Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy).
