The Gilded Agestar Carrie Coon proves the HBO period drama is vastly different behind the scenes with a hilarious set photo. Created by Downton Abbey mastermind Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age premiered on HBO in January and swept audiences up into a gorgeously rendered saga of new and old money in 1882 New York City. After posting impressive numbers for HBO on Monday nights, the premium network renewed The Gilded Age for season 2 in February; the first season just came to a close on Monday night.
Much like Downton Abbey, The Gilded Age boasts a large ensemble cast of upstairs and downstairs characters. Among the most prominent figures on the show is Coon's Bertha Russell, the ambitious wife of filthy rich robber baron George Russell (Morgan Spector). The Gilded Age season 1 largely tracks Bertha's efforts to establish herself among the upper echelons of New York society, though her progress is hindered by the older crowd, mostly represented by Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski). The Gilded Age also stars those like Cynthia Nixon, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, and Taissa Farmiga.

Ahead of The Gilded Age's season finale on Monday night, Coon took viewers behind the scenes with a picture that shows off a far less glamorous side of Mrs. Russell. Partially in costume, Coon hunches over a paper plate and digs into a slice of pizza. It's safe to say that Mrs. Russell would be horrified to be caught in this position, but it's funny to see the real life side of this period series. Check out Coon's post below.
