The recent Leviathan update for No Man's Sky added a list of fresh features to the open-world space exploration game. Players only have a limited time to jump in and experience all that the update has to offer, and it comes in only one month after the massive 3.85 Outlaws update. While it has, at times, looked as though Hello Games was getting towards the end of updating the game, these past two updates have sparked new life for space-adventuring travelers.
Before the Leviathan update, Outlaws hit the ground running with some brand-new and updated content, enhancing the player experience while flying and fighting in outer space. Some of the additions included atmospheric battles, combat autopilot, and dramatic explosions. However, there was plenty more that came in with No Man's Sky's Outlaws update — including a new type of starship classified as a Solar Sail. Hello Games also added the sixth expedition to the game, but there wasn't as much of a focus on the expedition as there is in the Leviathan update. Consequently, Leviathan focuses on narrative-driven enhancements rather than gameplay mechanics.

No Man's Sky's Leviathan update adds the seventh expedition to the game's story, along with subsequent rewards for completing the quests. Returning travelers will find that this expedition offers new roguelike gameplay that hasn't been used before in the game. Players must figure out a time loop mystery by solving sets of puzzles that lead to an ultimate space creature.
