Stranger Things season 4’s new character, “Enzo,” aka Dmitri Antonov, has survived the Russian prison’s Demogorgon pit, but his fate in volume 2 is more ambiguous. Alongside the returns of many old Stranger Things characters (like Dr. Brenner), season 4 has introduced plenty of new figures in the battle against the Upside Down. While some new characters like Stranger Things'Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) seem safe, others like Enzo aren’t guaranteed to survive through the end of Stranger Things season 4.
Hopper’s Russia storyline in Stranger Things season 4, volume 1 sees him primarily associated with Russian prison guard Dmitri Antonov (Tom Wlaschiha, better known as Jaqen H’ghar in Game of Thrones), who goes by the code name “Enzo,” after the restaurant where Joyce and Hopper were set to have a date. While Enzo starts out as a sly guard who is helping Hopper escape prison in exchange for $40,000, the new Stranger Things character ends up sitting in a jail cell himself when their plan is foiled. The end of Stranger Things season 4, volume 1 saw Dmitri and Hopper as the only two survivors in the Russian prison’s Demogorgon pit, whereafter the duo reunited with Joyce and Murray.

Since Yuri’s plane crash-landed on the way to the prison, the next step for Hopper, Joyce, and Murray to leave Russia is less clear. Not only do they still have to make their way out of the Russian prison’s boundaries, but they also have one more man to smuggle on their way out: Dmitri.
