Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the Kirby series’ first fully 3D platformer, and Kirby’s classic Copy Abilities return to this latest installment with new Evolved Abilities. Like most Kirby games, players can inhale enemies to absorb and copy their abilities, giving Kirby useful powers that can help him clear stages and rescue Waddle Dees from the Beast Pack. However, these Evolved upgrades come with brand new powers and abilities that make Kirby’s Copy Ability even stronger.
To upgrade Kirby’s Copy Abilities in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, players must first find the blueprints for each Evolved Ability. These blueprints can be taken to the Waddle Dee Weapons Shop in Waddle Dee Town to unlock its new, more powerful form. Most Copy Abilities have two different Evolved forms, though there are a few that only have one.

In addition to Kirby’s Copy Abilities and their new Evolutions, players can inhale massive objects to gain new abilities with Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s new Mouthful Mode. Fortunately, Kirby will also keep whatever Ability he had before inhaling something new with Mouthful Mode, but players can’t use both at the same time. Still, Kirby will keep whatever hat he was wearing, and as soon as players exit Mouthful Mode, they’ll be able to continue using their original power-up.
The Drill Ability is one of Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s brand new Copy Abilities, allowing Kirby to dig under the ground to dodge enemies before popping up to attack. The Pencil Drill Evolution transforms Kirby’s drill into a sharp pencil, which he can fire as a projectile when he emerges from the ground. The Twin Drill, on the other hand, gives Kirby two drills as well
