EVE’s online space shooter, Valkyrie, has shut down. Not only have the multiplayer servers closed for good, but the game’s short single-player campaign has also disappeared forever, highlighting the issues surrounding the transient nature of live-service games.
Developer CCP Games made the announcement last month on EVE: Valkyrie’s official website.

"On August 5th 2022, EVE: Valkyrie's servers will be turned off, social media profiles will be closed, and this website will go offline. Once servers are deactivated, customer support for EVE: Valkyrie will no longer be provided," wrote CCP.
"We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished with EVE: Valkyrie and its Warzone expansion and want to extend our deep appreciation to all our players for their support throughout the game's lifecycle. It is an honor to have been a part of such a dedicated community."
First released in 2016, EVE: Valkyrie represented an exciting new direction for the EVE universe and CCP’s first foray into VR. A year later, CCP released EVE: Valkyrie - Warzone for PC and PlayStation 4, removing the requirement for a VR headset. However, the game never quite found its audience, and recent player counts on Steam fell to the single digits.
CCP made no mention of removing the game’s limited single-player campaign, which mostly serves as a tutorial leading into EVE: Valkyrie’s more extensive PvP multiplayer mode. Unfortunately, it seems like Valkyrie’s single-player mode has disappeared as well.
