eShram Portal: Register online for free; get Rs. 2 lakh benefit and more; here's how to

Have you got yourself registered on e-Shram portal? If not and want to get yourself registered then you can do so either by visiting the official website of eShram by clicking on the link eshram.gov.in. or via Common Service Centres (CSC) and by State Government field offices in districts/Sub-districts. As per the information provided by the government, 23 crore unorganized workers have joined the scheme. It can be noted that if you are getting registered by someone else on the portal then you are required to provide the proper permanent address details while completing the registration process.

The central government launched the eShram portal for the benefit of unorganized workers. It is a centralized database of unorganized workers seeded with Aadhaar and workers from the unorganized sectors can register on the portal for free. It will have details like name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types and family details etc. for optimum realization of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them.

For the uninitiated an unorganized worker is any worker who is a home-based, self-employed or a wage worker working in the unorganized sector and is not a member of ESIC or EPFO. Any worker who is unorganized and aged between 16-59, is eligible to register on the eShram portal.

Once an unorganized worker registers on the portal, he/she becomes eligible to get an Accidental Insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakh under PMSBY. Also, in future, all the social security benefits of unorganized workers will be delivered through this portal.

In emergency and national pandemic like situations, necessary assistance to eligible unorganized workers will be provided through this portal.
