For a few weeks now, Epic Games Store has been giving away free mystery games week after week. This has led to several big releases, including Borderlands 3 and the BioShock Collection on Epic Games Store. However, all good things come to an end.
Epic Games Store has confirmed its final mystery game to be Maneater, which will be available from now until June 16, coinciding with the end of the Epic Mega Sale. This means that Epic Games Store is returning to its pattern of releasing a game and revealing the next week’s free game. For EGS, this means Supraland will replace Maneater on June 16, lasting until June 23.
Epic Games Store Working on Library Customization
Maneater is exactly what it sounds like, a game where players take on the role of a shark. Interestingly enough, though, it incorporates RPG elements and players are able to “age up” their shark and develop several new abilities. Maneater is no BioShock Collection, but it’s a solid game for the lineup.
Supraland, meanwhile, is billed as a first-person Metroidvania puzzle game, which directly cites Zelda, Metroid, and Portal as inspirations. Players will focus less on story and combat and more so on the sense of exploration, offering players roughly 12-25 hours worth of gameplay. The abilities also promise to be versatile, letting players use them in a ton of ways, with even more potential when combined.
While the past few games have been huge AAA titles, the end of the mystery games suggests Epic Games Store will return to its focus on smaller games and indies. That may disappoint some, but it works well for Epic Games Store, as it puts out more hidden gems that others may look over.
