The duo is best known for directing four films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the lastAvengers movie, Avengers: Endgame, which became one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
The Russos' latest film venture is The Gray Man, written by Joe Russo, and directed and produced by them both. The film is based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Mark Greaney and follows Court Gentry aka Sierra Six (Ryan Gosling), a CIA black ops mercenary who is forced to go on the run after he discovers dark secrets about the agency. The Gray Man began a limited theatrical run on July 15, followed by its digital release on Netflix on July 22.

The Russo brothers recently talked with Rolling Stone to discuss The Gray Man. During the interview, the two were asked if they would ever direct a horror film. Joe Russo responded:
Sure, we'd love to do a horror film. Evil Dead is, I feel like we talk about movies constantly, but it's because we're film fans. We grew up loving movies, and we watched a lot of damn movies when we were younger. And, you know, a couple of classic horror films were a main staple of our diet. Phantasm — I'd love to do a Phantasm movie.
