Bruno is a sad character in Disney's Encanto, but details from his secret room make his story worse. Unfortunately, Bruno Madrigal (John Leguizamo) doesn't get an easy journey in Encanto. In the film, Bruno's special power is having visions of the future, and they often don't go as planned. Because of this, Bruno gets a reputation for predicting terrible news, even supposedly bringing rain to his sister Pepa's (Carolina Gaitán) wedding day. After Bruno looks into the future and sees his magic-less niece, Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz), potentially causing the downfall of the family's magic, he goes into hiding. It's a tortured existence, as he lives life behind the walls of the magical Madrigal house.
Of course, Bruno doesn't stay hidden forever. After a decade of Bruno living in the walls, Mirabel finally finds her mysterious uncle. Bruno explains he went into hiding to protect Mirabel and never left because he loves his family. And Mirabel can see right away that Bruno's miserable in his crusty little hiding space. Rats are even using his toothbrush. In the end, thanks to Mirabel, Bruno returns to the family, and the Madrigals are delighted to have him back. He even clears up the whole rainy wedding day fiasco with Pepa, saying his weather-controlling sister's nerves brought on the rain.
