Elon Musk is well known for making exaggerated proclamations, whether it revolves around Tesla, SpaceX, or any given topic on Musk's Twitter account. These promises aren't always reliable or are as reliable as they are ridiculous. Announcing that Steam, the PC gaming storefront and digital platform, is coming to Teslas is one of these bizarre ideas. Yet Musk isn't backing down from the possibility of Steam running in Tesla vehicles. He's even saying that Steam on Tesla could arrive sooner than later.
This past week the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley community Twitter account made a post about playing games in their Teslas. The post included a short video showing how a Tesla Model X owner plays various games on their dashboard console while the electric vehicle is supercharging. They even connect a PlayStation 4 DualShock controller to play Cuphead. Elon Musk then replies to the Twitter post providing an update on the status of Steam for Tesla vehicles.

Musk's short response first confirms that Tesla is still working on bringing the Steam storefront to Teslas and is «making progress.» This is an expected, ambiguous statement. But, befitting Musk, he goes a step further, saying that a demo will «probably» be made available next month. In other words, Steam or a test version of Steam could roll out to Tesla drivers as soon as August.
The definition of «demo» bears a lot of weight in Musk's Twitter post. He could be referring to a version of Steam that doesn't actually play any games, just to test how the software runs on Tesla vehicles.
