Every armament in Elden Ring has an ability tied to it, but some are much less useful than others. Normally, a weapon ability can't be used if you have a shield equipped in the other hand, as the left trigger (or L2) will Parry instead of using the Ash of War skill for your main hand. With Ash Of War: No Skill, this changes.
Ash Of War: No Skill is one of the most useful Ashes of War because it nullifies the ability for the armament it is equipped on. This makes it so that when the player presses left trigger (or L2) with a Shield equipped, as long as that Shield has the No Skill Ash of War, you will use your main weapon's ability instead of your Shield's normal Parry.

If you have two weapons equipped in either hand, having the No Skill Ash of War on the left-handed weapon defaults your Ash of War ability to your right-handed weapon (and vice-versa).
Ash of War: No Skill can be purchased from Knight Bernahl, an NPC merchant who sells Ashes of War in Limgrave. Head to the Gatefront Site of Lost Grace just before Stormveil Castle and head up the path northwest. You should come to a forested area after a short while, after getting past a few small hordes of soldier NPCs.
