In case you missed it, basically everyone thinks Elden Ring is perfect so far. Its OpenCritic page is full of 10 out of 10s (or a five out of five in our case), and it looks like FromSoftware's highly anticipated open-world game was worth all the hype - if you're playing on console, that is.
As reviewers reveal their scores, and players in some parts of the world get their hands on the title, it seems like the PC version of Elden Ring is currently the worst way to play. Reports of frame rate drops and stuttering are so prevalent that Digital Foundry is recommending players stick to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as it appears that these issues will not be fixed in the day one patch as some had hoped.

Digital Foundry, who reviewed the game on the latest patch, report frame rate drops as low as 40. They also highlight that it is not possible to get the frame rate above 60, and there's no ultrawide screen support. The performance issues are said to be tied to loading new areas and enemies, and with it being so prevalent, it seems unlikely that this will all be ironed out by tomorrow.
Our guides team at TheGamer has been playing a lot of pre-launch Elden Ring in the past few days, and confirms that the PC performance leaves a lot to be desired. This is despite having setups that are above the recommended specs.
