A player in Elden Ring has found a new way to utilize the incantation Flame of the Fell God that can make the spell cast much faster than through intended means. The result allows players to bring a strategy into PVP that uses FromSoftware's iconic fire magic to deal large amounts of damage to enemies and other players.
While the explosion from the fireball created by Flame of the Fell God can be impressively powerful, the casting time can make it much more risk than reward. This risk is made all the more daunting as the spell has downtime after casting when the fireball needs to travel a short distance before exploding. However, one Elden Ring player has found an interesting trick that can decrease this wait time and cause an instant explosion to catch opponents by surprise.

Posted to the Elden Ring subreddit, Reddit user gwynsbooty shows off this incredible trick to cast Flame of the Fell God and instantly explode the summoned fireball directly onto another player. The trick is to cast the incantation into a wall or pillar, which still takes the same amount of time for the initial cast, but it cuts out the part of the spell where a miniature sun tries to follow enemies around before exploding. As a result, the caster is able to quickly kill their opponent, which can be a feat on its own when it comes to fighting other players in Elden Ring's PVP.
Skipping an entire phase of casting Flame of the Fell God makes it much more useful in more active combat situations, relying less on the tracking of the spell itself and more on the instant explosion.
