It’s official, Elden Ring is getting an expansion. FromSoftware announced today, just after the game’s first anniversary, that more content is coming with the in-development Shadow of the Erdtree .
The brief announcement was made via the official Elden Ring Twitter account, and merely confirms that the expansion is “currently in development”. “We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between,” it ends. There is an image to tease those new adventures, but it will clearly be a while before we know more.

Now we get to speculate on just what this new expansion will bring, and in what ways it will deliver on that deep and mysterious lore.
Back in December, there was a free Colosseum PvP DLC released for the game. That release added three colosseums, each with its own ruleset and challenges.This release was instantly something players dove into, with an arena for team deathmatch style gameplay, the free for all battle of Combat Ordeal, or even duels, so there’s clearly room to expand things.
