In an unusual turn of events, a group of Elden Ring players discovered a glitch that enables characters to traverse through fog doors that restrict access in co-op play. Elden Ring is primarily a solo adventure. However, those looking to conquer dungeons, areas, or bosses with friends have the ability to do so through the use of multiplayer consumable items. Players should be careful though, as playing with friends means players are opening up their world to adversarial Tarnished who can invade them at any time. Invasions are known to slow down the progress of the co-op party, occasionally ending the session altogether.
Playing with friends in Elden Ring co-op does come with its restrictions. There are many ways that a co-op game can be initiated in Elden Ring, but typically it begins with using one of the multiplayer items or utilizing the summoning pool. Players must also ensure that they start their game online instead of offline. This will enable them to see messages written by other characters on the floor and call for the aid of others. When playing together, the party is relegated to one area until the host is killed or the boss is defeated. At that point, all players return to their respective worlds. This means that exploration outside the area they were summoned was thought to be impossible due to fog doors blocking the path, until now.
