A new update for Elden Ring makes it easier for you to find help from friendly cooperators, but it’ll also be easier for you to be invaded.
FromSofrware has just released the new 1.06 update for Elden Ring, and while it features all the usual nips, tucks, and rebalances the biggest change is to how the multiplayer works.
The mechanics will remain the same but when placing a summon signs in the game, indicating you’re willing to play co-op with other players, it’ll now appear in multiple areas and further away from your current position.
The downside to this is that the same thing is also true of invasions, so in essence other players can invade your game and attack you from further away.
As frustrating as that sounds invasions are actually very rare in Elden Ring, at least when you’re not playing co-op, but this may make them more frequent, which is no doubt going to cause some concern in fan circles.
The other changes are more typical of other recent updates, with the Bloodhound Step Ash of War and the Corpse Piler weapon skill, being reduced in potency (or nerfed as they cool kids would have it).
At the same time all Greatswords, Curved Greatswords, and Great Hammers have been made more effective (buffed), so if you never bothered with them before, now may be the time to give them a go.
The full patch notes are below but for the last few months these sort of updates are the only news we’ve had on Elden Ring, with no indication of any paid-for DLC plans.
FromSoftware is rumoured to be working on a new Armored Core game but in terms of their plans for more Souslike content there’s still no clue as to what they’re planning.
