The opening show for Gamescom took place on August 23 and revealed a bunch of upcoming titles from AAA and independent studios, as well as guest appearances from industry figures. Horror fans would have been particularly interested in Gamescom, at least the Opening Night Live event, as games such as The Callisto Protocol had new trailers shown, and the likes of Dead Island 2 and even an adaptation of Killer Clowns from Outer Space were revealed. On top of that, there was some good news for Dying Light 2: Stay Human fans.
During the two-hour show, a trailer revealed the first story expansion for Dying Light 2. Called «Bloody Ties,» the video shows it to be a combat arena, in which the player must battle it out against others for supremacy. There was a certain carnivalesque vibe about it, though obviously with a lot more violence and gore. The announcer states that this will be a slight departure from Aiden's need to fight for survival, and instead he will be going head-to-head with others «for glory.» The DLC is due out on October 13.
Dying Light 2 Teases Big PS5 Upgrades
On top of this, there's also been a new update for Dying Light 2. This one is said to make some improvements to the graphics, as well as fix some issues with DX12, specifically the memory leaks. There have also been some tweaks to the PS5 and Xbox Series ports, and the PC version now supports AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution upscaling technology. However, it's most likely the upcoming «Bloody Ties» expansion that many will be interested in.
