Dragon's Dogma 2 has been given a full rating by the ESRB (the USA's ratings board), confirming that the soon-to-release action RPG is rated 'Mature'. That's not surprising in the least, but it's the game's content description that may raise a few eyebrows, as it reveals some additional details that haven't yet been covered.
The summary begins: «This is an action role-playing game in which players assume the role of a former prisoner trying to recall their past and save the world from an evil dragon.» It then describes the title's bloody action combat and cutscenes that depict gore.
But it's the next part that we weren't expecting: «Players' character can interact with sex workers, exchanging currency for services.» It seems the Arisen's been inspired by Geralt's escapades in Novigrad.
Don't get your hopes up for full-on sex scenes, though. The summary continues: «A brief sequence depicts the player sitting on a bed with a prostitute (both wearing underwear), before the camera fades to black. One cutscene briefly depicts characters kissing and rolling around in bed (no nudity).»
Still, we're somewhat surprised that prostitution plays such a (relatively) prominent role in Dragon's Dogma 2. Of course, the original Dragon's Dogma is infamous for its romance system — which can see your character get with almost any NPC in the game, leading to some potentially strange outcomes — so we're interested in seeing how the sequel shakes things up.
Did you see this coming? Unwind with some company after a hard day's adventuring in the comments section below.
Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
Going from Rebirth then straight into Dragons Dogma 2 is going to be pure gaming bliss.
Sexual content? Arise Arisen indeed.
Im waiting for the game that lets me charge the NPC's.
Fancy upgrading
