Few foes have left an impact on manga readers like Cell from Dragon Ball. With his signature arrogance and raw power, Cell has more than earned his rank among the most famous villains of all time. However, that villainy becomes even more pronounced in new fan art imagining the bio-android as a samurai warlord.
First debuting in 1992, Cell is one of the three biggest threats adult Goku and his friends take on in Dragon Ball. Hailing from a post-apocalyptic future where he already wiped out most of Earth's greatest defenders, Cell traveled back in time to become even stronger by absorbing his Android siblings, 17 and 18. Cell gets his name from the fact that he was constructed using the cells of powerful fighters such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Frieza. This incredible genetic mix makes Cell nearly unbeatable in combat. Most impressive of all, Cell directly lead to Goku's death, a feat certainly envied by other Dragon Ball villains. Though Gohan eventually eradicated Cell, his appearance was incredibly memorable, naturally leading to mountains of fan art.

In a post by Instagram user Jackson Caspersz, Cell is depicted as Samurai from feudal Japan. The artwork somehow manages the impossible task of merging Akira Toriyama's signature style with something far more gritty and grounded. All of the details are especially appreciated, such as the patterns on Cell's vest as well as the way his head shape naturally forms a samurai helmet. Capping off the piece is Cell's absolutely smug expression. This is a warrior who could slay entire armies with no effort or hesitation.
