There's a hard-to-shake image of gamers as adult-children playing video games in their parents' basements. It stems from the days when video games weren't mainstream, but they very much are now. More people are playing and making video games than ever before, and they all look different. So, this campaign asks, do I look like a gamer?
The campaign was launched by mayamada back in February - it's a manga creator and clothing brand that aims to help creatives from diverse backgrounds break into their favoured industries.

The Do I look like a gamer campaign is being led by mayamada co-founder Nigel Twumasi. Their GamePad gaming platform promotes inclusion and diversity through video games.
The campaign's aims are "to challenge stereotypes commonly associated with video game players. The campaign is also aimed at raising awareness of the available career paths for people of all backgrounds and identities into one of the world’s largest entertainment industries."
It started with a collection of 40 photos of various game players and makers, all sporting various controllers and keyboards and t-shirts with the campaign slogan on them.
They aim to break down the incorrect idea that gamers are all young white men, and are in fact from all over the world and all look completely different. The slogan is a bit tongue in cheek, as the point is anyone could be a gamer, regardless of how they look.
The campaign is now expanding to ask the public to share a video of them answering the question, "What was the game that got you into gaming?" Just upload the video to TikTok, Twitter, or Instagram and tag the company to join in. You can head to their website for more
