The launch of Diablo Immortal and the subsequent month has been a rough time for Blizzard, thanks largely to the game's focus on microtransactions and stories of players spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on Legendary Crest packs. Despite the player blowback, Blizzard is pushing forward with its first big update to lead into Season 2. The update also brings a new raid boss for players to cross blades with alongside plenty of bug fixes and balance changes.
Diablo Immortal is the latest in Blizzard's long-running series set in the world of Sanctuary, where angels and demons find themselves in regular conflict with humanity stuck in the middle. The game takes place between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, with players tasked by Deckard Cain to gather the shards of the Worldstone to prevent disaster from befalling Sanctuary. Standing between players and the Worldstone is Skarn, a demon who previously served as a lieutenant for the titular villain Diablo and the mastermind behind the coming disaster.
Diablo Immortal Update Buffs Two Classes
Blizzard went in-depth on the first major update in a post on the studio's official website, giving players a chance to prepare for the changes coming and new content to play. As mentioned, one of the biggest content additions on the way will be the new raid boss — Vitaath The Shivering Death. Vitaath is said to have emerged «from the icy depths of the Frozen Tundra,» stalking those foolish enough to venture out to the frozen wilds of northern Sanctuary. Players can visit Rayek’s Helliquary in Westmarch with their raiding party when they feel ready to take on this dangerous new demon.
