Arguably the most important new quest in Season 5 of is which is tied to unlocking the Infernal Hordes mode recently added to the game. Infernal Hordes are ways for your character to earn tons of valuable loot by defeating waves of powerful enemies. However, you cannot access this mode for item farming until you complete this seasonal mission.
Unlocking the Infernal Hordes mode requires you to pursue the seasonal questline, which involves some familiar characters for those who completed 's main story. Like any of the stories tied to specific seasons, you have to beat the campaign before you can access seasonal content. Thankfully, you only have to do this with one character since doing so allows you to skip the story when starting a new world.

Before you can start you need to collect at least one Infernal Compass in from an earlier mission. The Abyss quest is the third and final seasonal mission that only unlocks when you have finished all the prior quests before it. You also can't start the quest without being on World Tier 3, a higher difficulty setting for your character.
