Week five of Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted has arrived, bringing the next step in the Bound in Sorrow questline. The story began with Guardians exploring the Leviathan after its long absence. Players quickly discovered that everything was not the same, as the ship is plagued with Nightmares. Eris performs a Binding Ritual with Commander Zavala and Crow, both becoming haunted by their own personal Nightmares. In each story segment, Guardians attempt to cut off Calus's connection to the darkness. Week five starts Caiatl's involvement with Eris's Severance Ritual aboard the Derelict Leviathan.
Crow's struggle to face his personal Nightmare, Uldren Sov, was the focus of the first two weeks. To complete the first Severance Ritual, Crow needed to come to terms with his past mistakes, and discover how to make the most of his new life. Commander Zavala participated in the next part, finishing in week four of Destiny 2's Bound in Sorrow. He had to face the Nightmare of his wife Safiyah, as she brought his tragic past back to the forefront of his mind. Now, Caiatl brings news of the fact that she has been haunted by Dominus Ghaul, yet she did not participate in the Binding Ritual.

In week five, Guardians must make their way back to the Underbelly of the Leviathan. First, they will need to speak to Eris at the Crown of Sorrows. Once again, a Bound Presence must be created, by completing a tier-three Nightmare Containment Ritual and expending 500 Vestiges of Dread. Guardians will be informed about an urgent message at the HELM, in which Caiatl will talk about Dominus Ghaul's Nightmare.
