Demon’s Souls, where it all began, is the first in Fromsoftware’s now long-running series of difficult, atmospheric, and much-loved action RPGs. To coincide with the launch of Sony’s PlayStation 5, this cult class PS3 exclusive was remade, with a fresh coat of paint.

With this new release, a plethora of new players took on the challenge of Demon’s Souls for the first time. While this game no longer offers quite the challenge of the later games in this spiritual series, with newer outings being much more fast-paced, it can still be difficult to get your head around. With that in mind, here is an outline for one of the game’s more disturbing boss fights.
The Dirty Colossus, found at the end of the Swamp of Sorrow in the Leechmonger Archstone, is a foul creature indeed. Covered from head to toe in the runoff from the swamp it resides in, the creature is surrounded on all sides by flies. A mid to late game boss, this creature is extremely weak to fire and can be easily outsmarted by quick movement.
Thus, if you are playing as a melee, magic, or arrow-based range build, the tactic here can be more or less the same. Get a fire damage weapon, and stay behind the enemy, turning or rolling when it does. Overall, like many of the bosses in Demon’s Souls, its relatively limited AI can make this boss a walk in the park, or swamp, if you know the right tricks.
Dirty Colossus Attacks
Melee Combo
Using one of its hulking arms, the boss will swing to its left, then its right, before finishing with a powerful swing to its left.
Counter: This attack can be blocked. However, if you do not use a shield, the attack can also be rolled through, learn the timing and it should be simple.
