The first teaser trailer for Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck's long-awaited thriller Deep Waterteases their characters' twisted relationship. A movie adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's 1957 novel Deep Water has been in development since 2013, but it only gained traction in 2019 when de Armas and Affleck signed on as the leads. It was originally scheduled to premiere in November 2020, but endured a handful of delays due to the coronavirus pandemic. The latest development in Deep Water's release came in December, when 20th Century Studios made the decision to send it to streaming; it will debut on Hulu domestically and on Amazon internationally.
Directed by Fatal Attraction's Adrian Lyne, Deep Water centers on married couple Vic (Affleck) and Melinda Van Allen (de Armas). After falling out of love with each other, they begin to play twisted mind games that hold some tragic consequences for those around them. Deep Water is Lyne's first film in twenty years, making it an even more high-profile project beyond de Armas and Affleck's involvements. The movie also stars Tracy Letts, Finn Wittrock, Jacob Elordi, and Lil Rel Howery.
