It’s been a long time coming, but a new update for Arkane’s chrono-shooter Deathloop has finally arrived, bringing with it a selection of much-needed accessibility options. Game Update 3 is now available to download on both the PS5 and PC editions of the game.
While Deathloop received a whole host of plaudits upon its release in the fall of 2021, players were dismayed to discover that the clock-winding adventure features next to nothing in the way of accessibility options. Today’s update hopes to rectify this, with a list of over 30 tweaks added to the title’s menus, control options, on-screen visuals, and gameplay.
Among the new options listed in the official patch notes are revised subtitles, the ability to use directional buttons on menu screens, cursor speed options, adjustable HUD options, icon color selections, and the option to reduce game speed and game difficulty entirely. It is hoped that Game Update 3 will offer access to a wider community of players who may be affected by audio/visual or mobility-based issues when gaming.
“We are truly grateful to the players and the ally community who gave us so much feedback when Deathloop was released,” writes Arkane designer Yoann Bazoge. “We took the time to read all of the accessibility reviews and watch the videos of players explaining why they couldn’t play Deathloop. We then worked on a document listing all of the feedback and drew up a roadmap of what the additions would be for Game Update 3.”
