DC has many characters that have come and gone as well as many reimaginings of classic characters, such as Frankenstein, but DC had another Frankenstein that everyone's forgotten: Simon Dark. Everyone knows about Batman and the Bat-Family that protect Gotham, but not many know that Gotham had another protector, for a short while, a boy named Simon Dark.
Back in 2007 a series called Simon Dark (written by Steve Niles and artwork by Scott Hampton) followed the eponymous character, a teenage boy who lives in the Gotham Village section of Gotham City. Despite numerous references to Batman here or there, Simon and Bruce never actually encounter one another. Instead, Simon goes about his life, protecting the children and innocent people of Gotham Village, typically with lethal means due to his unique naiveté. Simon was invented as a modern retelling of Frankenstein, as such, he was put together through both science and magic. He was created through the body parts and souls of twenty dead teenage boys, and since he was assembled through different parts, he didn't really understand that removing someone's head wasn't good for them even stating at one point, «My head was sewn on and I'm still alive» as seen in Simon Dark #5.

Bringing Simon back into Gotham City could provide numerous interesting story points, for example, having him encounter Batman. Batman is no stranger to dealing with well-meaning youths who have had a history of using lethal force, as shown by how he interacted with Clownhunter in James Tynion IV and Jorge Jiménez's Batman run or with Damian Wayne in Batman and Son (written by Grant Morrison and artwork by Andy Kubert).
