In a newly revealed variant cover for The New Champion of Shazam #1 by DC Comics, a miniseries that will see Billy Batson's sister take over the role of Shazam, Mary Marvel has never looked more beautiful as the cover captures the hero in breathtaking fashion.
Mary Marvel (real name Mary Bromfield) has been a part of Shazam's adventures since the 1940s when the hero still used the moniker Captain Marvel. As Mary Marvel, she became an important sidekick and member of the Shazam family, often joining the popular DC Comics hero in some of his greatest battles. However, a new miniseries from DC Comics will give Mary the spotlight, as she becomes DC's new Shazam in a series from Josie Campbell and Evan «Doc» Shaner, as she'll take on the role after Billy Batson's hero makes a sacrifice resulting in a new champion needed.

DC Comics recently revealed the new release date for the Mary Marvel-starring The New Champion of Shazam #1 by Campbell and Shaner. Initially solicited for this past February, the miniseries will finally drop in August — a few months before the newest Shazam DCEU film, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, arrives in theaters. As part of the new solicitation, DC Comics revealed stunning new cover art from Joshua Middleton that captures Mary Marvel's version of Shazam in a beautiful portrait that blurs the line between comic book art and realism.
