Mary Marvel has gone through her fair share of costumes over the years, but as DC Comics' newest Shazam, none have been quite as stylish or packed with Easter eggs as the one she is sporting in the new variant cover by Dan Hipp. The artwork will appear on select issues of The New Champion of Shazam! #2, which will be out in September. The series, by Josie Campbell and Evan «Doc» Shaner, will follow the adventures of Mary as she takes on the Shazam mantel for herself. While the main cover for issue #2 shows her fiercely protecting her friends and family, this variant is a bit more cartoonish and shows the heroine in a fun and lighthearted way.
Dan Hipp is a cartoonist best known for their work on Teen Titans GO! They have also done a variety of cover art for comics, including designing Batman’s most ridiculous outfit. Hipp has contributed their whimsical style to characters like Moon Knight and the Joker. Their stylized covers are often packed with Easter eggs designed to delight readers and highlight aspects of the character.

Their most current variant work for The New Champion of Shazam! was shared via Hipp’s Twitter account, and it does not disappoint. Mary finds herself clad in a comfortable looking sweater emblazoned with the familiar lightning bolt logo. Additional patterns on the sweater show the Billy Batson version of Shazam, Mister Mind, and the Seven Deadly Sins. She flexes with one arm while holding a talking rabbit under the other. DC heroes and villains look on, all of which are drawn in a style reminiscent of Teen Titans GO!.
