Bandai Namco and From Software have announced plans to close the Dark Souls 2 PS3 and Xbox 360 servers in early 2024.
The servers will shut on March 31, 2024, at 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm GMT / 2pm CET.
“A message stating that online play is disabled will be displayed,” the companies said. “Offline play will still be possible.
“PC, PS4 & Xbox One servers will not be affected.
“Thank you to those who have played since launch.”
It was recently claimed that Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion could launch in February 2024, although From Software has yet to confirm a release date.
And in an update this month, Elden Ring producer Yasuhiro Kitao said development was progressing well, but suggested that fans shouldn’t expect a release in the near future.
From Software’s parent company, Kadokawa, also claimed last month that development of the DLC was “proceeding smoothly”.
Shadow of the Erdtree was announced in February, although further details about the expansion weren’t confirmed.
Ubisoft recently announced plans to shut the online services for 10 more of its “older games”, including four Assassin’s Creed titles, in January 2024.
