Charlie Cox is “thrilled” with how ultimately turned out following the creative restart.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ this coming March. A continuation of the Netflix Daredevil series, the MCU show sees Cox reprise his role as Matt Murdock, while Vincent D’Onofrio also returns as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
The show faced a bumpy road during production. Matt Corman and Chris Ord were originally hired to write the series, which had to suspend production last year due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike. In September 2023, after Cox and D’Onofrio raised concerns about the direction that Born Again was taking, Marvel Studios overhauled the series with a new creative direction. Corman and Ord were let go as head writers and Dario Scardapane was hired as the new showrunner.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at Daredevil: Born Again’s New York premiere, Cox said, “One of the most amazing things about working for this company was their ability to look at what we were making, listen to the things Vince and I had to say about it and pivot; decide you know what, this isn’t quite the right direction and we know how we can change it and make it better. I don’t know many companies that would do that — that takes a lot of personnel, it takes a lot of money, so it’s so cool to be standing here today and feeling thrilled with the product, that we ended up in the place we wanted to be.”
D’Onofrio further praised the support they’ve received from “all the big bosses all the way down to the crews,” as well as the Marvel fans, who “made their voices really loud for us and it’s really pretty amazing that we’re here and it has a lot to do with them.”
Marvel Television‘s Daredevil: Born Again premieres on March 4, 2025, on Disney+.
