Daniel Radcliffe appeared in the HBO Max Harry Potter reunion special, but he doesn't want to come back to the Harry Potter series in an acting capacity, at least not right now.
Speaking to The New York Times, Radcliffe said he had fun appearing in the HBO Max special because the magical series is no longer a part of his daily life. He's less interested right now in acting in a new Harry Potter production, but he might be open to the idea in a couple more decades.
Harry Potter movie director Chris Columbus, who directed Radcliffe in the first two Harry Potter movies, has said he wants Radcliffe to come back for a potential film version of the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Radcliffe said he has a «never-say-never» attitude about coming back to the Harry Potter series in a more official capacity some day, but right now, he's happy to stay on the sidelines and pursue other projects, like his Weird Al movie with Funny or Die.
«This isn't the answer that anybody's going to want, but I think I was so able to go back and enjoy it because it's not a part of my day-to-day life anymore. I'm getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and I'm really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life,» Radcliffe said.
The final Harry Potter movie was released about 10 years ago, and Radcliffe said he might be more keen to jump back in after a few more decades, not unlike how some of the original Star Wars actors came back after decades away.
«I'm never going to say never, but the Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it's only been 10. It's not something I'm really interested in doing right now,» he said.
