Cyberpunk 2077 Passes Another Notable Milestone on Steam
Cyberpunk 2077 is now doing better than The Witcher 3 in terms of concurrent player count on Steam. Despite CD Projekt Red's 2020 sci-fi title being one of the most disastrous launches in recent gaming history, the studio has been working hard to try and bring fans the product they were expecting in the first place. Patches aplenty have seen to a lot of the most damaging glitches in the game, and while it's not perfect by any standards even now, the game has made its way back onto people's consoles and PCs.
In fact, Cyberpunk 2077's player count spiked recently, most likely due to the «Edgerunners» update as well as the spin-off anime of the same name. Just a few days ago, the title peaked at 86,130 concurrent players on Steam, which was double the count from the previous week. The official Twitter page for CD Projekt Red posted a public thank you to the community, and now the game has managed to pass another milestone on Valve's PC storefront.

That's according to statistics on SteamDB, a third-party site that chronicles all things related to the Steam client. It shows that Cyberpunk 2077 had a 24-hour player peak that reached 136,724. The report goes on to say that this number surpasses the studio's previous game, The Witcher 3, saying that the hugely celebrated epic RPG had an all-time peak of 103,329 concurrent players on Steam. Given these numbers, it seems fairly certain that the aforementioned «Edgerunners» patch and accompanying animated show are likely what's making a significant contribution to this increase in interest.
Evidently, whatever CDPR is doing seems to be working, as Cyberpunk 2077 was also one of the most played single-player titles on Steam not long ago.
