The massive and currently embattled Embracer Group announced a large-scale restructuring involving a round of layoffs, closures, and cancellations yesterday. Embracer has since tried to clarify things, with Interim executive Matthew Karch providing a rich bounty of quotes in the process, with zingers like «we need to be exploiting Lord of the Rings in a very significant fashion» just the tip of the iceberg.
Obviously, this kind of turmoil at the top could cause chaos for the studios under the Embracer umbrella, or at the very least, could be perceived to. Crystal Dynamics has taken to Twitter to address the concerns of players who might be wondering what effect this might have on in-development titles like the ambitious next Tomb Raider game:
